What makes The Jaw Therapist different?
Our goal is for you to reach your goals. With each session, you will have one hour of one-on-one time with a doctor of physical therapy. This is a highly skilled role, as advanced specialization is required following physical therapy school to appropriately manage the care for a person with TMD.
Your provider will ensure that each session consists of a full and comprehensive evaluation, constant assessment, and focused, adaptive care that will fit each of your specific needs. Our service will strive to ensure that you will reach your goals- whether that is to be able to chew without pain, work without headaches, or be able to take full bites of food.

Do you take my insurance?
The Jaw Therapist is a proud Medicare provider! You can receive outpatient physical therapy services through your Part B coverage.
Private insurance companies typically restrict the amount of care you may receive. Meaning they may prevent you from getting the treatment you need! They usually place a significant burden on the provider which does not always allow the patient to receive the quality of care that they deserve. At The Jaw Therapist, we want each patient’s goals to guide their treatment rather than arbitrary parameters set by insurance companies.
We are clear with our pricing! With insurance companies, you often think the only payment you are responsible for is the copayment at your visit, but then they will hit you with an unexpected bill a few month later. There is also no telling how much that bill may be as the pricing is usually a mystery. We want to eliminate that stress and allow you to focus on your well being.
Can I still use my insurance?
If you would like to submit to your insurance on your own, we can help. After you confirm with your insurance company, we can give you the necessary documentation which you may submit to have your payments applied toward your insurance deductible.
Do I need a referral?
No! North Carolina is a direct access state which means that you do not need a referral for physical therapy. If you have Medicare, your physician is required to be included in your plan of care. This means that if you do not have a referral, we will contact your physician to notify them of your intention for treatment.
